Travel Plan to Canada

The Government of Canada has put emergency measures to slow the introduction and spread of COVID-19 in Canada. To continue slowing the spread of COVID-19, international students exempt from travel plans to return to Canada for essential and non-discretionary reasons must comply with Canada’s Quarantine Act upon Arrival.

YOU MUST QUARANTINE FOR 14 DAYS, PROVIDE CONTACT INFORMATION, AND MONITOR YOURSELF FOR SYMPTOMS SUBJECT TO THE MINIMIZING THE RISK OF EXPOSURE TO COVID-19 IN CANADA ORDER (MANDATORY ISOLATION) NO. 3.

If a student or member of the Canadian College of Higher Studies, please refer to the following checklist:

  • Ensure that all travelers must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival in Canada; thus, all arrangements for accommodation should be made prior to your arrival
    • If a student needs assistance Canadian College has readily
  • Ensure you have a suitable place of quarantine that has the necessities of life.
  • Go directly to your place of quarantine without delay and stay there for 14 days from the date you arrived in Canada.
  • Avoid living areas like hostels and residences with shared living accommodations as these are not acceptable for quarantine or isolation
  • You must wear a suitable non-medical mask or face covering while in transit. 
  • arrange for private, safe transportation from the airport to your place of accommodation and be sure to obtain the name and phone number of the individual providing service
  • Purchase a prepaid SIM card that is compatible with your cell phone and for use in Canada; so, you can communicate with your accommodations
  • Practice physical distancing always

 If students, staff, or faculty start to develop symptoms within 14 days of your quarantine, you must:

  • Isolate yourself from others as soon as you notice your first symptom
  • Immediately call a healthcare professional or public health authority to discuss your symptoms and travel history, and follow their instructions carefully

College Travel Plan and Protocol

A protocol is in place by Canadian College for Higher Studies for publicly communicating outbreaks of COVID-19 affecting or implicating international students and any immediate family members including, but not limited to, signage posted at entrances and in public spaces and through online communication, such as websites and social media.

CCHS will ensure pre-arrival requirements are communicated to international students and any co-arriving immediate family members in advance of travel to Canada.

CCHS will share the link for the Government of Canada’s ArriveCAN application before arrival at the border to complete the information required to step in their 14-day quarantine plan.

WHY DOWNLOAD COVID ALERT APP?

Along with physical distancing, wearing a mask and other important steps, knowing what to do if you have been exposed to COVID-19 (coronavirus) is another keyway to protect yourself and your community.

But how do you know if you have been exposed to COVID-19? And, if you get sick, how can you make sure even strangers you have been near are taking the right steps to protect themselves and others?

With the free COVID Alert app, you can:

  • Get a notification if you may have been exposed to COVID-19covid 19
  • get advice on what to do next
  • tell app users you have been nearby if you test positive for COVID-19, without sharing any personal information

COVID Alert will not:

  • collect, store, or access any personal data, or health information
  • will tell you if you are currently near someone who is tested positive and about outbreaks in your city or neighborhood

CONSEQUENCES FOR BREACHING QUARANTINE THAT MAKE SPECIFIC REFERENCE TO THE FEDERAL QUARANTINE ACT YOUR COMPLIANCE WITH THIS ORDER IS SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION AND ENFORCEMENT.

THOSE IN VIOLATION MAY FACE TRANSFER TO A QUARANTINE FACILITY AS WELL AS FINES AND/OR IMPRISONMENT.

Students, Staff and Faculty members who have recently returned to Canada and have no signs or symptoms of COVID-19, must quarantine for 14 days (starting from the date you arrived in Canada).

This is mandatory, individuals still at risk of developing symptoms and infecting others.

Your compliance with this Order is subject to verification and enforcement.

The following services are provided:

  • Airport Pickup
  • Quarantine Location accommodation (Hotel)
  • Food and Essential services provided
  • 24X7 Helpline number
  • Check-in within 48 hours of arrival through the ArriveCAN app or call 1-833-641-0343.
  • Report your symptoms through the ArriveCAN app or call 1-833-641-0343 every day until the end of your 14-day quarantine.

Canadian College of Higher Studies will also track each student by calling them daily and monitor their health and wellbeing.

Additionally Canadian College for Higher Studies will provide international students and any co-arriving immediate family members information and guidelines of the government through written and online orientation (presentation ), which will also be emailed and communicated to the respected student and family members.

CCHS will support the student with essentials delivered directly to their quarantine location to avoid breaking the quarantine plan. Students will also receive consistent information and guidelines and updates throughout the 14 days for COVID-19 symptoms, general well-being, and compliance with quarantine requirements, emphasizing individual COVID-19 infection control practice quarantine requirements, with emphasis on individual COVID-19 infection control practices.

Medical care insurance will be provided to students upon arrival.

This insurance plan will cover:

  1. A call to the doctor
  2.  Mobiles Testing through association with the SWITCH HEALTH

PRE- TRAVEL PREPARATION

CCHS will provide virtual awareness and training to the students and any co-arriving immediate family members to ensure the students’ health, safety, and well-being and their co-arranging family members.

CCHS will provide them with pre-departure training regarding COVID 19. To ensure students and family members are aware and understand the COVID-19 measures, CCHS will assign them a quiz to assess their knowledge.  Self-declaration from the students and pledge that he/she will follow all the federal government guidelines in the context of the corvid confirmation of pre-arrival and quarantine requirements.

Canadian College for Higher Studies has also partnered with Airport Limo Canada Inc. to provide safe travel from the Toronto Pearson airport. They will transport the student to their quarantine site within the city, whether they be a hotel, a private residence.

Additionally, CCHS will arrange transportation once the quarantine plan and flight information are verified and follow up with you via email with details.
